In 2004, we initiated the Climate Change College. The College was set up to get young people (18 to 30) from various European countries actively involved in the theme of climate change. The three-year initiative was launched to the public in 2005, together with Ben & Jerry's and the Worldwide Fund for Nature.
The participants in this part-time course attend workshops, lectures and training courses, gaining knowledge from leading experts in the area of climate change, sustainability, innovation, behavioural change in communication. They will also be going to the polar region in order to experience the intrusive consequences of climate change for themselves and to make a contribution to scientific research on site.
The participants qualify on the basis of their motivation and plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These plans vary from campaigns to raise awareness to business plans which grow to become sustainable company start-ups.
