WWF Voyage for the Future

How do you make it possible for young adults to have an effective influence on the international political agenda? This was the question we were confronted with by the International Worldwide Fund for Nature network. In 2007/2008, we developed and realised a programme during which we took 'high potentials' of around 20 years of age from nine different countries on an educational boat trip through the Arctic region.

This programme gives WWF access to a new domain of creative and unconventional thinkers and doers who can strengthen it in its lobbying work for more robust climate legislation. During the journey, we provided the participants, on the one hand, with the knowledge and baggage to communicate in a more grounded and successful manner, by a putting them in contact with scientists and specialists.

On the other hand, the journey through the beautiful Arctic region was a moving and life-changing experience. One spin-off which is just as important is the fact that, through the programme, the WWF representatives who accompanied the trip were also better informed and able to work more successfully.
