XS4ALL

Being the oldest internet service provider in the Netherlands, XS4ALL has a strong connection with the core values of the internet: a global computer network which enables free and uncensored exchange of information and ideas for everyone. Where opinions can be shared and where there is a healthy balance between privacy and transparancy, and between respect and freedom of speech. In doing so XS4ALL believes internet enables democracy. With their groundbreaking work in this area the company has, perhaps unconsiously, been working in a Socially Responsible manner since the start. 

Next to this strong societal and 'People' focus XS4ALL also has an increasing awareness on the 'Planet' side of CSR. It now uses windenergy to power most of its operations and is starting to work on energy reduction plans.

Since early 2010 icentials has been playing an active role in this proces. Through a combination of consults, lectures and workshops we are helping the organization to strenghten its employee engagement on the subject, make its ambitions tangible and measurable and gain the knowledge needed to realize its sustainability goals.

The double benefit we see in this is that the ICT industry can profit from make its own operations more sustainable as well as enabling society, through its customers, to operate in a more sustainable manner. The facilitation of working at home and teleconferencing are two perfect examples of how ICT can reduce transport for instance.
